Quality handmade stocks for 1911 Pistols
My interest in woodworking started in 2012 while attending gunsmithing school, where I developed a particular interest in stock repair and refinishing. What began as part of learning the gunsmithing trade quickly grew into an appreciation for working with wood by hand—bringing out the character of the material while creating something both functional and individual.
Over the years, that interest led me to make a variety of pieces, including tobacco pipes, safety razors, pens, bottle openers, and some of my first sets of 1911 grips.
Woodworking eventually took a back seat while I started working for a semi-custom 1911 manufacturer. That experience kept me close to the platform and further developed my appreciation for the details, fit, finish, and craftsmanship that distinguish a well-made 1911.
Years later, after setting up my woodworking tools again, I returned to making 1911 grips. What started as revisiting an old interest quickly became something more. Each piece of wood offered its own grain, figure, color, and imperfections—and an opportunity to create a set of grips that couldn’t be exactly duplicated.
That idea became the foundation for Wallace Arms.
Named for my family, Wallace Arms is built around small-scale craftsmanship rather than mass production. Each set of grips is shaped, fitted, finished, and inspected individually, with an emphasis on allowing the natural character of the wood to determine the finished piece.
